I Beg to Take My Leave
I had become very distraught over the many young Canadian
and Allied soldiers dying in increasing numbers overseas. Every paper and
magazine had features about these real people being ruthlessly
and indiscriminatingly killed. On our music room desk was a blank pad, pen
beside. I suddenly felt the overwhelming "presence" of a young fallen solder
with many, many others forming a triangle behind him. He indicated "this is
what I want you to write"...My wife Katie and I composed a melody to
emphasize
in music the words he clearly passed on to me.
A few days later we recorded his message with the remarkable
producer / musician Allan Rodger.
Listen to this soldier's song these are his words.
Dedicated to the many young men and women of all free
nations who have given their live in defense of truth, freedom and human
rights for all mankind.
